30.10. FINAL – Kings 6, Golden Knights 3

The disappointment of Tuesday's loss to the Sharks was short-lived as just 24 hours later, the Kings bounced back to defeat the Vegas Golden Knights 6-3 on home ice. It was an impressive performance for the Kings as they defeated the red-hot 7-2-1 Pacific Division leaders, who entered the night on a four-game winning streak and a five-game point streak. One of the Golden Knights' streaks that the Kings were able to extend was their losing streak as they are still looking for their first road win at Sin City, now 0-3-1 this season.

The Kings were able to take a lead with two goals in the first period on Wednesday and did so quickly. Just after halftime of the period, a stretch pass from Quinton Byfield to Warren Foegele fell just short, but forced Golden Knights goaltender Ilya Samsonov to pass the puck. Since Foegele had a tight grip on the forecheck, Samsonov botched the clearance attempt and pushed the puck straight back to the Kings forward. Foegele responded quickly by pivoting and backhanding the puck back into the net through Samsonov's five holes, giving the Kings a 1-0 lead. The Kings needed just 42 seconds to double their lead when Adrian Kempe fired a wrist shot through a moving screen by Alex Turcotte in the mid lane.

The Kings scored two more goals in the second half, and like the first half, they scored twice in less than a minute. Again at halftime of the period, the Kings extended their lead to 3-0 when Alex Laferriere scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season with the help of assists from Mikey Anderson and the aforementioned Byfield. Just 44 seconds later, Brandt Clarke made a sensational spin play in the slot, setting up Anze Kopitar's back door to give the Kings a 4-0 lead. The Golden Knights didn't get into the game until late in the period when former King Tanner Pearson scored a goal in the final 20 minutes of regulation to make it 4-1.

The Kings again scored the first two goals in the third period. Kopitar and Clarke scored on the power play and set up Kevin Fiala, who returned to the lineup after being a healthy scratch in Tuesday's game against the Sharks because he overslept and missed a team meeting after the alarm was not sounded. More importantly, the assist for Kopitar was another milestone for the captain as he reached the 800 career assist mark. Both Fiala and Clarke accounted for the Kings' sixth and final goal as they received assists on Joel Edmundson's point-blank goal, his third goal of the season. With Clarke's three-point night (0-3=3), he now has 11 points in the team's first 11 games of the season. Clarke joins Larry Murphy (2x, 4-7=11 in the 1980-81 season and 5-8=13) as the third defenseman in King history to be 21 years old or younger to start in the team's first 11 games 11 points at the start of a season in 1981-82) and Rob Blake (2-11=13 in 1990-91). Two goals from Pavel Dorofeyev came late in the half, but no damage was done and the Kings took the win.

Darcy Kuemper returned to the Kings net and stopped 23 of 26 shots to improve his record to 3-0-2.
