The San Francisco 49ers paid a heavy price for their Week 8 win over the Dallas Cowboys.

After the game, head coach Kyle Shanahan reported four injured players who did not return to action.

Running back Jordan Mason injured the same shoulder in the first half that he suffered in Week 8. He went to the locker room early and returned with his helmet on in the second half, but never played in the game in the second half. Shanahan said Mason might have been able to return.

“Maybe he could have,” Shanahan said. “But Isaac (Guerendo) was traveling well and did a good job.”

In Mason's place, Guerendo had 85 yards on 14 carries.

Wide receiver Deebo Samuel left in the fourth quarter with a rib injury. It is unclear when he was injured, but in some key situations towards the end of the competition he was unable to return to the game.

On defense, linebacker Dee Winters was sidelined with a concussion sustained while covering a kickoff. Rookie cornerback Renardo Green also injured his ankle.

Shanahan didn't have a long-term prognosis for a player's injury in Week 8, but with the 49ers' bye week in Week 9, they have a little more time to qualify in time for a playoff push after the bye.
