Dark clouds over Anthony Edwards' dream Karl-Anthony Towns 'reunion' as another leaked clip surfaces online

Dark clouds over Anthony Edwards' dream Karl-Anthony Towns 'reunion' as another leaked clip surfaces online

It’s not just the front office that takes recruiting seriously. A team's fans are just as persistent, if not more so, when it comes to attracting big names when the opportunity arises. And it appears one Knicks fan tried to do just that when Anthony Edwards was within earshot. Did the Hooper agree?

One of the shocking trades just before the start of the 2024-25 season occurred between the Wolves and New York. The dissolution of the “Nova Knicks” and with it the separation of ANT and his colleague Karl-Anthony Towns. But the newcomers seem to be settling in well with their respective teams.

However, that doesn't change the fact that many secretly hoped that everything would go back to the way it was. And perhaps the fan mentioned above wanted to capitalize on that emotion when trying to get Anthony Edwards to join the Knicks! Yes, you read that correctly. Funnily enough, the Wolves superstar responded immediately to the impromptu recruiter.

“If I play bad, you'll all go 'Booo!' say.” Edwards said this in a leaked clip. However, nothing Ant-Man said seemed to have any effect on the adoring fan, who kept repeating in the viral video: “Come to New York!”

Anthony Edwards' reasoning is not entirely without merit. The New York audience is not just a fan base that extends to death and beyond. As long as the team plays well, they can count on the greatest support. Once things go south, players witness a barrage of criticism. And it seems that despite the glitz and glamor of the Big Apple, Ant isn't exactly keen on playing in such an atmosphere.

Interestingly, this came after a contradictory statement from the man himself in what was probably the same preseason game against the Knicks.

Anthony Edwards pointed to a “Reunion” with KAT, despite his commitment to Minnesota

When the former teammates met for the first time after Towns was traded to NYC, the two swapped jerseys. And at some point in that moment it seemed like you heard a fan in the crowd say: “As soon as the contract is up, New York baby” to ANT! The 23-year-old, in turn, had a heartbreaking (both good and bad) answer.

“I would definitely like to be reunited (with KAT).”

Given that the Wolves didn't play the Knicks after their preseason game, it wouldn't be a stretch to assume that the aforementioned incident occurred in the same game in which Anthony Edwards fired the recruiting fan.

Suffice to say, it left fans with more questions than answers. It doesn't help that the 2020 top pick reiterated his commitment to the T-Wolves in a recent ESPN cover story. “If I can, I’ll try to stay here for my entire career.” Anthony Edwards said in the story along with Vikings WR Justin Jefferson.

Well, what do you think of the whole thing? Is there a chance that Anthony Edwards will put on a New York Knicks jersey any time soon? Or will he be a one-team man throughout his career? Let us know in the comments.
