ROUND UP

The release of the statewide field hockey and girls volleyball pairings will be delayed 24 hours after a preliminary injunction was issued in favor of the Hampden-Wilbraham School District and individual student plaintiffs.

According to an MIAA release, they received the notice Monday afternoon. Because the order was issued without the MIAA having an opportunity to be heard, the organization requested and received a hearing from the judge.

Because a final ruling in favor of the school would impact the seeding process and the clear and accurate publication of state tournament series, the MIAA elected to delay publication for at least 24 hours.

In the press release, the MIAA claims the school district has admitted to failing to follow MIAA protocols and believes it is false that these potential consequences would have a negative impact on the vast majority of member schools across the state that followed the required process .

The injunction is the result of an agreement between the MIAA and the Pioneer Valley Interscholastic Athletic Association after several PVIAC schools entered their schedules incorrectly. Schools were required to complete schedules, including yet-to-be-released games for Western Mass., by Sept. 13. Tournament, have on your schedule.
