Joe Rogan responds to backlash over failed Harris interview

Joe Rogan went into detail on Thursday about why Kamala Harris, unlike Donald Trump, didn't appear on his wildly popular podcast — and stressed that it wasn't because he's “a diva.”

The Spotify podcaster, who previously revealed he had turned down an invitation from Harris' team to travel to her for an hour-long interview, insisted it was not inappropriate for him to invite the vice president to his studio in Austin, Texas, to let it come and for it to run its usual three hours.

“You could look at that and say, 'Oh, you're acting like a diva,'” Rogan said on the episode of ” The Joe Rogan Experience“but she had the opportunity to come here when she was in Texas.”

“I literally gave them an open invitation. I said, “Anytime.” I said, “If she's done at 10 o'clock, we'll come back here at 10 o'clock.” I say, “I'll do it at nine in the morning, I'll do it at 10 p.m., I'll do it at midnight when she's awake, when she wants to drink a Red Bull and f—king party,'” he continued.

Rogan revealed that Harris' team contacted him shortly after the announcement that Trump would appear on the influential show, but “it was very difficult to retain him.”

He explained that he feared that the interview would be too much like their team's terms if he traveled to Harris, citing Fox News host Bret Baier's claim that Harris staffers had signaled to him to stop his controversial interview with the end Democratic candidates.

“When I go somewhere, there are other people in the room,” Rogan said. “And they want to control a lot of things, I'm sure, according to the Bret Baier interview on Fox. People wave him away. This is a distraction. My whole goal with her and with him is just to talk. Just have a conversation like a human. You learn things about people. At least you get a feel for it. That was it. I don't give a fuck what we talk about. I really don't. I just want to talk to you. Who the hell are you?”

During Rogan's extensive three-hour conversation with Trump last week, the former president suggested that Harris would not be comfortable with an interview with Rogan.

“She won’t do it.” Trump told Roganand added: “I hope she does because it would be a mess. She would be on the floor. Comatose. She would say, 'Call the doctors.'”

Rogan, however, dismissed Trump's outcry.

“I think we would have a good conversation,” he said. “I would just try to have a conversation with her and hopefully get to know her as a person.”
