JD Vance sits down with Joe Rogan and reveals the “biggest difference” between Trump and Harris

Senator JD Vance said the right to freedom of speech and expression is the biggest issue at stake in this election, as Republican vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris and the Democratic Party criticized in a wide-ranging and frank statement for “inducing people to… “I have silenced those who disagree with them.” Sit down with podcast king Joe Rogan.

During the three-hour, thought-provoking chat just days before the polls officially open, the two also examined the Democratic presidential nominee's mind-boggling “word salads” and how President Biden is actually helping former President Donald Trump.

Vance, 40, argued that the “biggest difference” between Trump, 78, and Harris, 60, is censorship.

“We are not trying to censor our fellow Americans,” the Ohio senator said during the lighthearted exchange on “The Joe Rogan Experience,” released Thursday.

“We will attack Kamala for her policies or her ideas, but we don't want to say, 'You should be silenced because you disagree with us,'” he continued.

“It's anathema to everything I believe in – and that's exactly what's happened in the modern Democratic Party, at least at the leadership level: They've really gotten comfortable with the idea of silencing people who don't agree with them. “

Vance's sharp accusation of censorship comes as Harris has sought to convey a message of “joy” and unity throughout her campaign – while portraying her opponent as a threat to democracy.

The election campaign appeal struck a chord with the mega-podcaster, whose show has around 15 million followers on Spotify.

Rogan, 57, a staunch supporter of free speech, drew particular attention over the summer to Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz's suggestion that there is “no guarantee of free speech when it comes to misinformation or hate speech” – saying he was “very upset ” be. with it.

Vance called Walz's remark “completely crazy” and claimed that this “hate speech” is often “in the eye of the beholder.”

The junior senator from Ohio also verbally mocked Harris.

“I give a lot of speeches, there is actually a certain skill behind it. I think she is the Michael Jordan, using as many words as possible to say as little as possible,” Vance said.

“She actually has a certain gift,” he joked.

“You've written 500 words and you're like, 'What the hell did she just say?' She didn’t say anything.”

Rogan, who tried to negotiate an interview with Harris, burst out laughing and imitated Harris, confusing her message.

“Do you think she's wearing an earbud?” Rogan asked, prompting Vance to reply, “I wouldn't be surprised.”

Later in the interview, Vance addressed President Biden's recent statement that Trump supporters are “trash” – a potentially campaign-changing comment that the White House has been racing to clean up.

The Republican hopeful suggested that Biden – who has been largely blocked from supporting Harris' campaign – is “trying to help Donald Trump.”

“We will win, but after we win, I will be convinced that Joe Biden has been trying to help us all along,” he said of the 81-year-old commander in chief, noting that Biden also made a stop in one fire station in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, in September “he had the MAGA hat on.”

The Ohio senator also lamented the glaring lack of media coverage of Biden after he offended half the country – a moment that drew quick comparisons to Hillary Clinton's end-of-election remarks when she called Trump's supporters a “basket of deplorables.”

“The number of mentions on CNN about (Tony Hinchcliffe's Puerto Rico) joke in the last 48 hours: 143, Vance said.

“On MSNBC: 101, on ABC: 53, on NBC: 32 and on CBS: 31,” he continued.

“Do you think the word 'garbage' will appear 141 times on CNN in the next few days?” I bet not,” he added.

“Now what’s the difference? Well, one difference is that it’s a comedian telling a joke and the president of the United States saying what he actually thinks.”

In a more serious moment, Vance insisted that allegations that second gentleman Doug Emhoff slapped a former flame should be thoroughly investigated.

“When you're a domestic abuser, it's not usually limited to one person,” the officer said.

“Is it in the public interest to conduct an investigation into whether the president may be sharing the White House with a person who has been involved in domestic violence?” he asked rhetorically.

Both rival presidential campaigns have sought to claim the mantle of freedom in the high-stakes 2024 cycle — with Harris and Walz focused on abortion and protecting democracy while Trump and Vance focused on censorship.

Earlier this week, Harris, who once called for Trump's Twitter account to be suspended, tried to turn the tables on her rival – echoing his 2022 call to repeal parts of the Constitution.

“If he says he wants to repeal the Constitution of the United States? Do you know what that would mean?” she said in an interview with the Club Shay Shay Podcast. “The First Amendment, the Second Amendment.”

Trump and Vance, meanwhile, have complained about the Biden-Harris administration's efforts to combat social media posts about COVID-19 that it deemed “misinformation” and Big Tech's suppression of other content, such as the bombastic Post's Hunter Biden laptop story.

“Joe Biden has fundamentally traded his political influence for money,” Vance emphasized. “This was the real Hunter Biden laptop scandal. Again, it wasn’t Hunter Biden doing cocaine with a stripper.”

The Post recently uncovered revelations from a House subcommittee on government use of weapons that provided evidence that Facebook executives based their decision to contain the bomb laptop story in part on the belief that there was likely to be a new Biden administration. But despite the Republicans' long-standing feud with the scandal-plagued first son, Vance reflected that he would actually like to “hang out” with him.

“I want to hang out with Hunter,” Vance admitted. “Maybe I’m the only Republican. This guy, this guy knows how to have a good time.

“I would bet $100 that Hunter Biden picks Donald Trump for president,” he joked.

Vance also mused that Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg – who is reportedly increasingly keen to stay out of politics as much as possible – is now secretly supporting Trump.

“My secret theory is that Zuck is now a secret Trump supporter, but he can't say that publicly,” Vance insisted.

Over the summer, Zuckerberg called Trump's response to the July 13 shooting of Butler, Pennsylvania, “bada–,” and the former president claims they spoke on the phone some time ago.

Vance revealed to Rogan that at one point Trump had considered the possibility of unveiling him as a veep at the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Ultimately, Trump dropped the idea, but Vance recounted the moment he learned of the assassination.

“I actually thought they killed him because when you first see the video, he grabs his ear and goes to the ground and I'm like, 'Oh my God, they just killed him,'” Vance told Rogan of his first appearance reaction.

“I was so mad,” he added, noting that he thought he was supposed to “pick up my kids, throw them in the car, go home and load all my guns and basically stand at our front door like a sentry.”

The Ohio senator called Trump's survival a “true miracle.”

Trump made his debut on Rogan's podcast last week in a highly anticipated interview that garnered over 41 million views on YouTube and quickly became one of his top episodes.

Rogan revealed that he negotiated with the Harris-Walz campaign for a meeting with the vice president, which fell through because he refused to comply with their demands that the meeting be conducted remotely and only last about an hour, far less than usual for his podcast.
