Due to bad weather, the New York Mets' games against the Atlanta Braves are postponed

As rain poured down in Atlanta on Wednesday, Major League Baseball announced that two crucial games had to be postponed due to the wet weather.

The New York Mets' games against the Atlanta Braves, scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday at the Braves' home stadium, Truist Park, have been postponed due to “the weather forecast and inclement weather.”

The MLB season was supposed to end on Sunday, but will now continue into next week. The canceled games will be made up on Monday as part of a traditional doubleheader at Truist Park.

The changes come in light of the proximity of Hurricane Helene and a cold front that will bring slow-moving showers and storms on Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service, this combination will result in an “unprecedented” weather event in northern Georgia.

The series between the two division rivals was considered one of the most decisive of the 2024 MLB season and was expected to determine the final spots in the playoffs.

The Mets are currently one game ahead of the Braves and have a wild card spot. The Braves are a half game behind the Arizona Diamondbacks and have the third and final wild card.

The Mets travel to Milwaukee this weekend to face the Brewers, while the Braves host the Kansas City Royals.

The first pitch on Monday is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. ET.
