Salt Lake County is seeing high voter turnout, with over 300,000 ballots cast just before Election Day.

Among the voters was Che Garcia Robb, who expressed his excitement at voting for the first time.

“This is my first time voting for president,” he said. “This is probably the most important election of my life and I just want to make sure I can do my part.”

At the Salt Lake County Building, poll workers are busily preparing for the big day.

Laura Jacobs, head of in-person voting, said: “With this being such a big election, we wanted to make sure we were ready for tomorrow.”

With about 300 workers across the county, Jacobs assured voters they can expect a warm welcome.

“I think they can expect a big smile when they check in,” said Salt Lake County Clerk Lannie Chapman.

She also reassured voters who were concerned about the security of their ballots.

“The boxes are safe. We have a lot of procedures in place, from the cameras that are on the top of every single box to the fire suppressants that I have in there, and I have sheriff's officers pick those up multiple times a day,” she said.

Chapman expressed confidence in the election process.

“It was incredible. “Early voting over the last two weeks has worked really well,” she said.

As the countdown to Election Day continues, Robb encouraged those who have not yet voted to go to the polls.

Those who need to register can do so on the same day as voting by simply presenting a valid ID and proof of residency.

Utah Lieutenant Governor Deidre Henderson issued a statement saying:

“County officials have been instructed not to release results until every Utahn in line when polls close has had the opportunity to vote. . . . We will keep everyone updated if any delays occur and ask for your patience as our county officials administer the election. We also encourage those who have not already done so to return their ballots as soon as possible. The sooner you vote, the more meaningful our initial results will be.”
