ANAMOSA, Iowa (KCRG) – The Jones County Auditor is warning voters that the election will get busier from now on. She assumes that the queues for voting will be longest until the polls close at 8 a.m.

Polling stations in Jones County experienced an initial rush when they opened. There was a constant flow of people throughout the day.

Some voters TV9 spoke to at the polls on Tuesday morning shared why they voted today.

Deborah and Mark Parham cast their votes at the polls in Anamosa on Tuesday morning.

For those planning to vote after work on Tuesday, the wait could be longer.

“Kamala,” said Deborah Parhamn. “Kamala,” Mark Parham added.

“She has, in my opinion, more sense than the other person,” Deborah Parham said.

“I think it’s really for the people,” Mark Parhman said.

The Parhams said women's rights and the repeal of Roe v. Wade ruling would have helped them decide who to vote for.

The Engelbarts, however, said they thought about the state of the economy during Tuesday's vote.

“Donald Trump,” said Penny Engelbart.

“The last three years have been tough and I think it's time for a change,” said Russel Engelbart.

Because of work schedules, both families voted on Election Day and not earlier.

The Jones County auditor said the voting line remained the same throughout the day.

“First thing at 7 a.m. there was a big rush of voters that caught a lot of people before they went to work. So I know the poll workers were busy voting first thing this morning. There has been a steady flow since that big rush,” Jones County Comptroller Whitney Hein said.

She expects polling stations to get busier after work hours, between 4 and 8 p.m

“The polling stations are open until 8 p.m. So as long as you're in line by 8 p.m., you're allowed to vote, even if it takes a while to get through the line. No one can join the queue after 8pm.”

Anyone who comes to vote on Tuesday evening is asked to be patient in line and use the time to get their ID card out.

Once the election is complete, the unofficial results are calculated and posted on the Secretary of State's website.

Auditor Hein said these unofficial results for Jones County will be released after 9 p.m
