2024 US election results in DC, Maryland, Virginia – NBC4 Washington

It's Tuesday, November 5th – Election Day. A mix of collective excitement, fear and impatience has gripped the nation.

In the presidential race, all eyes are on voters in seven battleground states. However, control of the US House of Representatives and US Senate could rest with Maryland and Virginia.

DC, Maryland and Virginia live scores

Now let's take a closer look at Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia.

In DC, polls closed at 8 p.m. Many eyes were on District 8, where Councilman Trayon White decided to continue his re-election bid despite being indicted on federal bribery charges. News4 Projects: White is the winner. District 7 and at-large DC Council seats are in contention, while Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton is expected to win her 18th term. Additionally, Initiative 83 could change the way future elections are conducted.

In Maryland, polls closed at 8 p.m. The U.S. Senate race between former Republican Gov. Larry Hogan and Democratic Prince George's County Supervisor Angela Alsobrooks was the biggest to watch. Alsobrooks accepted the vote and will head to the Capitol. Question 1 on the ballot also asked voters to approve or reject a measure to enshrine reproductive freedom in the state constitution. That's what they did.

In Virginia, polls closed at 7 p.m. Incumbent Democratic Senator Tim Kaine defeated Republican challenger Hung Cao. We are also closely monitoring the closely contested U.S. House elections in Virginia's 7th and 10th districts, which could help determine the balance of power in Congress. Suhas Subramanyam, the Democrat, is expected to win in the 10th election.
