Former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy is moving his financial services company from Columbus to Dallas.

Ramaswamy, a Cincinnati native, co-founded Strive Asset Management in 2022 on the assumption that many of the country's largest asset management firms place more emphasis on progressive themes than performance when considering where to invest.

“When Strive launched in 2022, almost every major company was leaning into (environmental, social, governance investments),” Ramaswamy said in a statement announcing the move last week. “Just two short years later, the national environment has changed dramatically, in no small part because of Strive’s efforts.”

The statement did not say whether Ramaswamy also plans to personally move to Texas. A message seeking comment on Ramaswamy's personal plans was not immediately returned.

The company already manages $1.7 billion.

Ramaswamy has become a popular figure in conservative circles and has written several books, including “Woke, Inc.: Inside Corporate America's Social Justice Scam.”

He announced his candidacy for the presidency in February 2023, but dropped out after the Iowa caucuses when he finished fourth.

Strive argues that Blackrock, Vanguard and State Street use customer money to push ideologies some don't like, such as fighting climate change and ensuring representation of women and minorities on corporate boards.

As part of the move to Dallas, Ramaswamy's firm is launching an asset management business that includes integrating Bitcoin into portfolios.

The company expects most of its Columbus-based employees to relocate to Dallas in the next few months.

“Ohio was the perfect place for Strive to launch its business and we couldn’t be more grateful for the partnerships we’ve built here over the last two years,” Strive CEO Matt Cole said in a statement. “From a business perspective, Texas was the right choice for Strive to be headquartered, but we will of course continue to serve our customers in Ohio and offer them the opportunity to invest in our uncompromisingly shareholder-friendly company.”
