Trump reveals why his and Melania's son Barron is so tall | US News

When Donald Trump announced his victory in the US presidential election, the world's eyes were on him, but more than a few glances shot across the stage to his 18-year-old son Barron.

Addressing a crowd of cheering supporters cheering his astonishing comeback four years after leaving the White House, Trump was flanked by family members including wife Melania, daughter Ivanka and his youngest child, who towers 6 feet 5 inches (1.8 meters) taller than him.

In January, Trump discussed his son's greatness after a record-breaking victory in the Iowa caucuses.

The former president thanked his mother-in-law Amalija Knavs, who died this month, for all she did for the Trumps.

“Boy, did she take care of Barron?” Trump said from his campaign headquarters in Des Moines.

“That’s how he got so big — all he did was eat their food,” he said, sparking laughter from the crowd.

Trump said in his speech celebrating his Republican caucus victory in Iowa with 51% of the vote that Knavs “is way up there, she's looking down and she's so proud of us.”

“I just want to say, Amalija, you are special.” “You are one of the most special people I have ever known,” Trump said.

“And it's been a tough time for the family, but she's great, she's been great.” So I just want to thank her for what she's done for our family and her husband…

“Great people, great parents for all of us, really great parents, but also for Barron.”

Trump added of his 17-year-old son: “I said you're going to be a basketball player.” He said, “Actually, I like football, dad.” I thought…at your height, I like basketball better, but you can Don't persuade her to do anything.'

He also called Barron a “special boy” and said he “watches on TV,” according to the Daily Mail.

Trump thanked his entire family, who he said “worked so hard” and “endured so much abuse because they were good people.” He said to cheers: “I want to thank my incredible wife, the First Lady – I say former and perhaps future.”

In announcing his victory in the 2024 election, Trump again paid tribute to his late mother-in-law and said Amalija was proud of what he had accomplished.
