Live Alaska 2024 election results: Trump expected to win

ABC News predicts that former President Donald Trump will win Alaska's three electoral votes.

The winner receives the state's three electoral votes. All general elections in Alaska are conducted using ranked-choice voting. RCV allows voters to rank candidates in order of preference.

Polls in Alaska are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time. General postal voting began 15 days before election day.

State significance

Alaska is a consistently Republican state and has voted for the party's candidate in every single election the state has participated in since its founding in 1960, with the exception of Lyndon B. Johnson in 1964.

The state's incumbent At-Large Rep. Mary Peltola, a Democrat, is in a close race for reelection against Republican Nick Begich and two lesser-known candidates.

Peltola is one of the most vulnerable Democrats in the House and has voted alongside Republicans on some hot-button issues, including border policy. She is the first Democrat to endorse the National Rifle Association since 2020.

Counties are colored red or blue when the percentage of expected votes reaches a set threshold. This threshold varies by state and is based on past voting reporting patterns and expectations about how voting will occur this year.
