The polling stations are open until 7 p.m. today

Early voting for today's general election ended on Friday.

According to the Nevada Department of State, more than 23,300 voters in Carson City had cast their accepted ballots and voted in person. As of October 1, there were 39,275 eligible voters in Carson City.

Election Day voting will be held at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St., from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Another polling location will be at the Stewart Community Wellness Center and Gym, 465 Clear Creek Ave. be.

Because of the early error, new ballots were mailed to all Carson City voters in mid-October. The outside of the envelope says “corrected ballot.” All mail-in ballots must be postmarked no later than November 5th and can be received in the clerk's office no later than four days after the election (November 9th).

If voters have already voted using the original ballot, those votes would still count if a corrected ballot is not received or the person does not vote in person, according to Carson City Clerk-Recorder Scott Hoen.

Hoen previously told the appeals court that the plan was to keep original ballots and corrected ballots separate. In the hope that voters will use the corrected ballots, the office first counts the corrected ballots and then cancels the original ballots of everyone who used the corrected ballots.
