Governor Pillen Issues Statement on 2024 General Election Results

LINCOLN, NE – Today, Governor Jim Pillen issued the following statement regarding the 2024 general election results:

“Today is a great day for America and for Nebraska. While there are still some votes to be counted and some races still too close, it is clear that Nebraskans stood strong for their values and prosperity in this election.

I want to thank every Nebraska candidate who has applied for public service. Elections are, and must be, tough on candidates and their families. They made a huge sacrifice just to run for office, and I commend each and every one of them for their dedication.

I am deeply grateful that President Donald J. Trump will be returning to the White House. It carries with it the promise of a strong, prosperous, and secure America committed to the rule of law. I look forward to standing with him as he rebuilds a strong economy, fights for fair trade for American workers, confronts China's interference, and secures our border.

Here in Nebraska, the people have chosen to maintain a strong conservative majority in our legislature. I look forward to working with Senators to continue the work of creating a strong future for our children, reducing taxes, advocating for the agricultural producers who are the backbone of our state, and defending our values. We still have much work to do, and I look forward to the 2025 legislative session and the promise it brings for the people of our state.

Nebraskans wisely chose to send stable, experienced conservatives to represent them in Congress. Preliminary results show that all five members of our federal delegation will continue to serve and use their seniority on behalf of the people of our state in a House and Senate, both potentially led by conservative Republicans. These majorities represent a tremendous opportunity for Nebraska, and I look forward to continuing to work with our delegation to advance our interests in Washington.

I am disappointed that selfish union bosses spread lies and dark money advertisements to deceive Nebraskans into taking Opportunity Scholarships away from needy children who had the chance to attend schools that worked for them, even though we have unprecedented resources in our public schools have invested. I will never give up on our children and will continue to fight to provide them with better educational opportunities at every level.

I am deeply touched by the faith and conviction that Nebraskans have demonstrated in the two ballot initiatives on abortion. Initiative 434 was passed and enshrines anti-abortion protections in our Constitution, which cannot be weakened by abortion advocates. At the same time, Nebraskans rejected Initiative 439 and its radical creation of a fundamental right to abortion. It's a great day for unborn babies in Nebraska.

God bless America and God bless the state of Nebraska.”
