Bayern 1-0 Benfica (November 6, 2024) Match analysis

FC Bayern Munich's Jamal Musiala scored with a second-half header to give the hosts a 1-0 win over Benfica in the Champions League on Wednesday, rebounding from two straight defeats in the competition.

German midfielder Musiala scored with a header from close range in the 67th minute, with Bayern dominating and wasting several chances before breaking the deadlock.

The result took Bayern to six points from four games and 17th place, while Benfica, toothless in attack, also had six points in 19th place.

The game started with a 15-minute delay as fans arrived late due to train problems and Bayern were desperate to get back to winning ways after two defeats to Aston Villa and Barcelona in the competition.

Initially they struggled to find a way through the crowded and compact Portuguese defense but gradually improved and Harry Kane had their first chance.

They came even closer in the 39th minute when both Kane's shot and Michael Olise's attempted rebound were stopped by goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin.

Kane tried his luck with a solo run into the box and a low shot in the 54th minute, before Trubin pushed Leroy Sané's shot wide on the hour mark.

Bayern, still unbeaten and at the top of the Bundesliga, put Musiala's header in front after an assist from Kane and deservedly took the lead.

The visitors managed to absorb the pressure for long periods, but they had little to offer in attack, as Bayern only had one shot on goal in the entire game, making 23 in total.
