Liverpool officially end the fourth game week at the top of the UEFA Champions League. The Reds have won all four games, their last triumph being a clear 4-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen.

They are also the only team with four wins. Aston Villa had the chance to join them on Wednesday night but lost 1-0 at Club Brugge.

Liverpool are now the only team to have won all four Champions League games. That could change tonight as Aston Villa aren't playing yet, but as things stand it's the Reds who are leading the way.

This means they are now at the top of the league – an absolute first for the club. After all, there had never been a league in the Champions League before this season.

The Anfield crowd chanted towards the end of the game: “Liverpool, top of the league, Liverpool Liverpool, top of the league”. It's a first for the song in Europe as reaching the top Liverpool set with their top results has never made sense before.

Liverpool's midweek Champions League clash against Bayer Leverkusen was arguably Arne Slot's biggest challenge to date, and he overcame it.

Despite another slow start, the Reds emerged 4-0 winners over a side who haven't lost away from home in 18 months.
