Colorado Springs schools closed due to snowstorm | Weather

Southern Colorado woke up Thursday morning to a fresh blanket of snow following Wednesday's winter storm that forced many school districts to close.

A winter storm warning is in effect for Colorado Springs through early Saturday and additional snow accumulations of between 5 and 10 inches are expected, according to the National Weather Service in Pueblo.

Due to the winter storm, most school districts in the Pikes Peak region will remain closed Thursday.

Here's a look at some major school districts that will remain closed Thursday:

  • Academy District 20 – Closed
  • Big Sandy – Closed
  • Calhan RJ1 – Closed
  • Canon City RE1 – Closed
  • Cheyenne Mountain Dist. 12: Closed. No preschool. Closure due to persistent bad weather and poor road conditions
  • Colorado School for the Deaf and Blind – Closed
  • Colorado Springs SD 11: Closed. No AM preschool
  • Cripple Creek-Victor – Closed for in-person, transitioning to remote
  • District 49 – Closed. The clasp includes BASE 49
  • Elbert School District 200 – Closed
  • Elizabeth School District – Closed
  • Ellicott 22 – Closed
  • Fountain Ft. Carson Dist. 8 – Closed
  • Fowler School District R4J – Closed
  • Fremont-Florence RE-2 – Closed, no kindergarten or preschool, no activity bus runs.
  • Hannover 28 – Closed
  • Harrison Dist. 2 – Closed
  • Huerfano – Closed
  • La Veta Scholl RE2 District – Closed
  • Las Animas School District – Closed
  • Lewis Palmer Dist. 38 – Closed
  • Manitou Springs SD 14 – Closed
  • Manzanola School – closed, Vets Day program canceled
  • Miami-Yoder Sch. Dist. JT-60 – Closed
  • Peyton 23J – Closed
  • Pike Peak BOCES, SOE and BOCES Calhan – Closed
  • Pueblo D60 – Closed
  • Pueblo Dist. 70 – Closed. Essential personnel only
  • SCCOG Early Learning Centers – no transit buses, no meals for seniors, Trinidad and Walsenburg business offices are two hours late and Early Learning Centers are closed.
  • Trinidad School District – Closed
  • Wide Field 3 – Closed
  • Woodland Park Re-2 – Closed. WPMS and WPHS work remotely. Columbine, Summit and Merit Academy are closed.
  • Banning Lewis Academy – Closed. All campuses (K-12) are CLOSED.
  • CEC Colorado Springs – Closed for in-person classes. Transition to distance learning.
  • Colorado Springs Charter Academy: Closed
  • Colorado Springs School – closed
  • Fountain Valley School – Starts at 9:45am
  • James Irwin Charter Schools – closed
  • New Summit Charter Academy – closed, no preschool. Prodigy Child Care is CLOSED.
  • Rocky Mountain Classical Academy – closed, no preschool. YMCA and ALL extracurricular activities and sports have been canceled
  • St. Mary's High School: Closed. Asynchronous tag
  • Thomas MacLaren School: Closed
  • The Vanguard School: Closed
