MIAMI — The heat is making a comeback this weekend! Record heat is possible for Miami on Saturday, with a forecast high of 93 degrees, and the record is 93 degrees, which was last set in 1958. Humidity will also remain high as Helene's moisture tail continues to drape over the area. This has led to a heat advisory being issued for Miami-Dade and Broward counties, with an expected heat index of 105 to 110 degrees.

On the other side of the tropics, we'll have to keep an eye on the Caribbean again next week. The National Hurricane Center is studying an area stretching from the Caribbean to the southern Gulf of Mexico that has potential for tropical development. There is currently a medium chance of a tropical depression or storm forming there over the next 7 days.

Long-term computer models indicate a good signal that a tropical system is developing in the Caribbean, with a good chance it will move into the Gulf of Mexico Thursday through Friday next week. At the moment we can only monitor it. There are no immediate threats to South Florida at this time, but it is important to stay tuned for further updates throughout the week.
