Phoenix sets another temperature record amid fall heat wave

The record for September 29 will likely be higher as temperatures rise throughout the afternoon. The weather forecast calls for a high of 112 degrees. The average normal high for this date is 96 degrees, the weather service said on X.

An excessive heat warning remains in effect through Oct. 4, with daily highs expected to be 109 on Monday, 111 on Tuesday, 109 on Wednesday and Thursday and 110 on Friday, the weather service said.

Phoenix also broke a record overnight when the low temperature was 88 degrees, six degrees above the previous record low temperature of 82 degrees, the weather service said.
