“The rest of us are focused on Denver.”

“Because it starts with me, because that’s my sole focus,” Pierce said. “Here I get paid to prepare for the opponent every week. That doesn't bother me. The next obstacle in front of me is the Denver Broncos and that's what I introduced to my team and that's what they're doing right now in the meetings. Go out to practice and do it against the Broncos.

Currently, his relationship with his top receiver also appears to be a hindrance. Adams' trade request went viral Tuesday afternoon after the bankruptcy trustee declined to comment on Pierce, who appeared to like a comment on social media about a potential trade.

Asked Wednesday if the “like” was a coincidence, Pierce replied, “Yes, I'm focused on Denver.”

Pierce said he and Adams “talk often” but would not say whether he had spoken to the wideout in recent days after Adams said Tuesday he had not heard from his head coach.

The first-year full-time coach said he wasn't worried that the Adams situation would distract his club from the task ahead.

“Just carry on as usual. You have to keep going,” he said. “Things come up every day. There have been hurdles since I took this job. So just one more.”
