“We have to do something to fix the problem”

The Las Vegas Raiders offense has struggled to run the ball for the second year in a row. Last season, it was running back Josh Jacobs and an offensive line that had gelled well. This season, it's running back Zamir White and all of the Raiders' running backs who are struggling behind a rebuilt offensive line.

Like last season, the Raiders have one of the worst running games of any offense in the National Football League, and it's causing them problems again. The Raiders would be wise to address this problem sooner rather than later, as it has limited offensive coordinator Luke Getsy's ability to call plays successfully.

Raiders coach Antonio Pierce acknowledged that changes need to be made to get the Raiders' offense going. The lack of a running game hurts the team in more ways than one. Without a running game, the Raiders were unable to sustain offense and left their defense on the field far too long.

The Raiders offense has struggled to do anything right. This season, however, the unit's inability to get its running game going could prove to be its fatal flaw. The Raiders need to figure out the problem and make the necessary changes.

“We have to do something to change that,” Pierce said after the game. “When it comes to opening up the run, I mean, game plan, players, coaches. I mean, I've said it before, I'm not going to sit here and just keep watching. It's just not good enough. 3,4, two yards last week. That's not us. That's not the identity. That's not what we're supposed to look like. That's not what our team is going to be and we've got to work on that.”

The Raiders offense may need to pivot their game plan to protect the quarterback and use the pass to open up the run. The Raiders offense desperately needs help, and they may want to consider some personnel and game system changes right now. That is, if they hope to make this season as fundamental as many in the organization had hoped.

The Raiders coaching staff needs to figure this out as quickly as possible.
