MSU Hoops is experiencing massive recruiting success

Michigan State men's basketball and coach Tom Izzo were once again close to landing an elite five-star prospect. Dwayne Aristode had the Spartans among his top schools, but on Sunday he chose the Arizona Wildcats.

That's bad news for the Spartans after a promising week that saw them sign four-star forward Jordan Scott and become the presumptive favorite to land another four-star forward in four-star forward Cam Ward. Adam Finkelstein of 247Sports praised Aristode in his review.

“Aristode is a jumbo winger with a ton of physical tools that should ultimately translate to a versatile two-way game,” Finkelstein wrote. “At 1.80 m, he has enormous positional height and an equally impressive physique. With a wingspan of 6 feet, he's not particularly long, but he's already strong and physically fit. He is an elite athlete who runs very well “Competitive consistency in his day-to-day approach is obviously a key to maximizing both his current productivity and his long-term potential, especially for a player who is perhaps most naturally gifted on defense.”

According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Aristode is the No. 18 prospect in the 2025 class. Izzo recently discussed the finer points of recruiting at Big Ten Basketball Media Days, saying money and fit can be the difference between commitment and losing.

The Spartans are way ahead, which could have been the deciding factor for a blue-chipper like Aristode.
