The Real Madrid veteran has never considered retirement amid ongoing injury concerns

Recent reports that Real Madrid defender David Alaba could retire early due to an ongoing injury have been clearly refuted.

In fact, the Austrian international, who had to take a long break, is concentrating on his recovery and returning to the pitch, and retirement is not yet in sight for him, reports Sky Deutschland's Florian Plettenberg.

Alaba is not thinking about resigning

Alaba's cruciate ligament injury, which has kept him out of action for almost eleven months, is a cause for concern for both the club and fans.

The core of his problem lies in the lack of cartilage, which has complicated his recovery process as his return plan is delayed at every step.

This extended absence had led to speculation about possible career-ending implications, with some media outlets suggesting that Alaba might be forced to hang up his boots early.

However, these claims were labeled as unfounded. The report said retirement was “never an issue” for Alaba and stressed that the 31-year-old defender remains committed to his rehabilitation and an eventual return to competitive football.

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti also commented on the situation and gave an optimistic outlook on Alaba's recovery. In a recent press conference he stated:

“We have young players who can contribute, the return of Alaba, who will be with the team soon…” At the moment we are not thinking about new signings.”

This statement not only reinforces the club's confidence in Alaba's recovery, but also shows that Real Madrid is not trying to replace him in the transfer market.

The news will come as a relief to Real Madrid fans who have missed Alaba's presence in the team's defensive line.

The Austrian, known for his versatility and leadership on the pitch, could significantly improve Real Madrid's defensive options given their ongoing depth issues.

As Alaba continues his rehabilitation, the focus now shifts to his potential return date. Although no specific timetable was given, the fact that he has been doing individual training suggests he could be back in the foreseeable future.
