Teen driver killed near Bliss, Idaho

Fatal crash on I84 near Bliss claims the life of an 18-year-old driver

GOODING COUNTY, Idaho – According to a press release, Idaho State Police (ISP) is investigating a fatal two-vehicle collision that occurred early Monday morning, October 21, 2024, on I84 eastbound near mile marker 132.4, near Bliss , happened.

According to Idaho State Police, the incident occurred around 2:23 a.m. when an 18-year-old man driving a red 1997 Chevrolet GMT-400 was traveling westbound on I84. The driver struck a traffic light pole, causing the pickup to roll through the median and come to rest in the eastbound lane. The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle.

Semi-trailer truck involved in collision

A 32-year-old man driving a 2003 Peterbilt towing a 2021 Wilson trailer was traveling eastbound on I84 when his vehicle struck the ejected driver of the Chevrolet. Unfortunately, the young driver of the Chevrolet died from his injuries at the scene of the accident.

Ongoing investigation

Idaho State Police continue to investigate the cause of the crash. Idaho State Police were assisted at the scene by Gooding County Paramedics, local law enforcement, Bliss QRU, Bliss Fire and the Gooding County Coroner.
