Olivia Munn says she's tired of being insecure about my mastectomy scars

The “Predator” actress showed off her surgical scars in a new bra campaign for Kim Kardashian's shapewear brand SKIMS. The new line she was promoting would also raise funds for the Susan G. Komen breast cancer organization.

It wasn't surprising that Olivia Munn used her paid partnership with SKIMS to raise awareness about breast cancer, as she has been vocal about the disease since her diagnosis. She revealed her condition earlier this year, including the five surgeries she underwent as part of her battle for her health.

In the joint Instagram post with SKIMS and Susan G. Komen, Munn posed topless in sheer leggings. The first image showed her sitting, giving viewers a closer look at the surgical scar on the side of her chest.

In other snaps, she posed in a one-shoulder bra, while the final image showed Munn lying topless on the floor. She discovered a wet hair look and soft, glamorous makeup that accentuates her beautiful features distract the eye from her scars.

Munn reflected on her decision to share this vulnerable part of herself in the post's caption, writing, “In the midst of this latest @SKIMS bra campaign shoot, I decided that I… was done I'm insecure about my mastectomy scars.

“All the traces that life has left in my body is proof of this how hard I fought. “I hope other women who are aware of their scars see these photos and feel all the love I send,” Munn said.

Munn enjoys inspiring others in the fight against breast cancer

Since her diagnosis, Munn has not only been vocal about her battle with cancer, but also willing to help others in the same situation. She reiterated similar sentiments in the message, noting that the new bra campaign is in line with her mission.

“It is really makes sense “To be part of an initiative that supports research and helps countless breast cancer patients,” Munn wrote. She added that SKIMS would donate 10% of its retail profits for every bra sold to Susan G. Komen.

Donations will take place October 23-31 and will include profits from bra sales at SKIMS stores and on Skims.com, excluding bralettes. Unfortunately for international fans, the promotion only applies to the USA

Fans applaud Munn's honesty about her post-mastectomy body

Munn's post received hundreds of supportive comments from fans, many were touched by her honesty. “Your scar is awesome!! You fought for it. Show it,” declared one Instagram user.

“You’re a beast for this, Olivia! I love you!!” Another supporter wrote, while a third wrote: “There is no doubt that you save women with your honesty. Beautiful inside and out.”

“And from all the women, thank you! And thank you for always keeping it real,” someone applauded Munn. The Susan G. Komen organization also expressed its love for the actress and wrote:

“Thank you for sharing your story and inspiring others to take charge of their breast health.”

The “Newsroom” star underwent five surgeries

The breast scars Munn showed off were from one of the five surgeries she underwent during her battle with cancer. The Blast reported that she spoke out about going under the knife for the fifth time in April, revealing:

“I have now had an oophorectomy and hysterectomy. I removed my uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries.”

Doctors recommended total hysterectomy because it would stop the production of estrogen – which feeds and grows lumen B breast cancer. Munn emphasized that the surgery was the right path for her, emphasizing:

“It was a big decision, but it was the best one Decision for me because I had to be there for my family.”

The hysterectomy was Munn's fifth surgery, as she had previously undergone surgery full double mastectomy, a lymph node dissection, reconstructive surgery and a nipple retardation. Before going down this path, she tried to suppress estrogen production in her body.

Munn explained that she used Lupron to reduce her estrogen production, but the drug's side effects kept her bedridden. She described the symptoms as “next level, debilitating exhaustion.”

“I woke up in the morning and had to go back to bed almost immediately,” Munn remembers. She claimed it was so bad that when anyone asked her son Malcolm where she worked at home, he would point to her bed.

Olivia Munn gave birth to her son with boyfriend John Mulaney in November 2021. The couple announced the birth of their second child, Méi June, via surrogacy in September 2024.
