UEFA Europa League updates: Jose Mourinho is sent to the stands after Youssef En-Nesyri canceled out Christian Eriksen's opening goal in Turkey

MOURINHO sent off as Man United blows lead again in Europe

Jose Mourinho received a red card as his Fenerbahce side came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw against Manchester United in a high-profile UEFA Europa League clash in Istanbul.

The former Red Devils head coach was sent to the stands after reacting angrily to his team being denied a penalty in the second half.

United had withstood the initial pressure to silence a normally hostile crowd in the 15th minute when Christian Eriksen fired a brilliant first-time shot into the top corner from just outside the box.

Marcus Rashford almost scored a second goal with a great run and shot before Andre Onana made an outstanding double save to keep out two close-range headers from Youssef En-Nesyri.

However, the former Sevilla striker, who scored twice as the La Liga club knocked United out of this competition in 2023, equalized within four minutes of the restart when he headed home an inviting cross from the left.

United controlled much of the second period but could not find the winner as they once again squandered a lead and drew for the third consecutive time in the competition.

The Red Devils next visit West Ham in the Premier League on Sunday.
