After dominating the conversation with their incredible individual performances during the 2024 season, Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani received a lot of support from their peers in the 2024 MLB Players' Choice Awards voting.

The New York Yankees superstar was named Player of the Year and AL Outstanding Player, while Ohtani was named NL Outstanding Player.

This is the second time in three years that Judge has been named Player of the Year and AL Outstanding Player. He first won the award in 2022 when he set the AL record with 62 home runs.

Judge put together the best season of his career in 2024. The 32-year-old set career highs in batting average (.311), on-base percentage (.458) and slugging percentage (.701). He led the MLB in the latter two categories, as well as home runs (58) and RBI (144).

Based on Baseball Reference's wins over replacement players, Judge's 10.8 mark is tied with Rogers Hornsby's 1921 season as the 21st best season in MLB history.

Ohtani was named his league's outstanding player for the third time after becoming the first player in MLB history with a 50-50 season. He previously won the AL Outstanding Player Award in 2021 and 2023 while playing for the Los Angeles Angels.

The last AL player who wasn't Ohtani or Judge to be voted Most Outstanding Player by the MLBPA was Jose Abreu during his MVP season with the Chicago White Sox in 2020.

Atlanta Braves ace Chris Sale joined Judge and Hoskins as the only players to win two awards. He was voted the best pitcher in the Netherlands and comeback player of the year. The 35-year-old started a total of 31 games for the Boston Red Sox over the last four seasons.

After moving to Atlanta last offseason, Sale had one of the best years of his career. He led the MLB with 18 wins and a 2.25 ERA while finishing first in the NL with 225 strikeouts. His 177.2 innings pitched were the most since 2017 (214.1).

Tarik Skubal was the only Detroit Tigers pitcher to be named AL Pitcher of the Year, joining Justin Verlander in 2011 and Max Scherzer in 2013. The left-hander broke out in 2024 with a 2.39 ERA and 228 strikeouts in 192 innings, helping the Tigers reach the playoffs for the first time in 10 years.
