After a quarter of play in Tuscaloosa, the 15th-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide led the 17th-ranked Missouri Tigers 3-0 after a sluggish first quarter at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Alabama forced Missouri into a three-and-out on the Tigers' first series, thanks to a big early sack by Jihaad Campbell on second down.

Robbie Ouzts started the offensive day with a six-yard catch from Jalen Milroe. Kendrick Law then swept 21 yards to the Mizzou 30-yard line. The drive stalled when Alabama tried to field a pitch to the outside that caused Jam Miller to be stuffed, losing four points.

The Tide settled for a 47-yard field goal from Graham Nicholson, his first from more than 40 yards this season, to take a 3-0 lead. That capped a 50-yard drive in 4:03 and was Alabama's best opening sequence since its Week 5 win over the Georgia Bulldogs.

Near the end of the first quarter, Alabama found itself deep in its own territory at the 10-yard line. Johnny Walker Jr. drilled Milroe from behind on third down to force James Burnip to punt from his own end zone.

After one quarter of the game, the two teams had totaled 69 yards (35 for Missouri, 34 for Alabama). Both teams were 0 of 3 on third down, with Milroe 5 of 7 for 17 yards.

Law's 21-yard run was the longest play from scrimmage for either team.
