MLB executives pick the Red Sox's budding star as one of baseball's best players at his position

The 2024 MLB season is almost over as the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers will face off in this year's World Series starting Friday.

So far, the league has announced its honorees, but players across the league will be recognized for their contributions to their clubs during the 2024 season.

On Thursday, Sporting News released its 2024 All-Star teams, voted on by over two dozen MLB executives from more than half of the league's teams.

For the American League, there were many of the usual suspects, including Aaron Judge and Jose Ramirez. However, the Boston Red Sox had one standout player who earned a spot last season – outfielder Jarren Duran.

The 28-year-old Duran appeared in all but two of Boston's games, batting .285 with an .834 OPS, 21 home runs, 75 RBIs and 34 stolen bases. He also led the MLB in doubles (48) and made the most triples (14).

The Red Sox's rising start also brought massive improvement in the outfield, from -6 defensive runs saved in 2023 to 23 defensive runs saved in 2024.

Interestingly, all three American League outfielders on this list came from the AL East, with Judge and Juan Soto also taking spots.

If Duran can repeat what he did last season, he will be considered one of the best outfielders in baseball for the foreseeable future. This is an incredible improvement after he was considered a fringe MLB player after last season.
