Lakers coach JJ Redick makes it clear that he watched game film at the car wash

LOS ANGELES – JJ Redick clarified that he watched feature films at the car wash.

Former NBA player Baron Davis spotted the first-year Los Angeles Lakers coach there on Saturday and posted about it on X.

A first-round pick in 1999, Davis played 13 seasons in the NBA, including for the Golden State Warriors and LA Clippers.

“I just met @jj–redick at the car wash. He had the laptop and was watching a movie!!!! Player-coach!!! Lakers in great hands,” Davis wrote.

Redick said a Lakers spokesman told him about the social media post before the team was scheduled to host the Sacramento Kings for a second straight game.

“It's the circumstances of playing back-to-back,” he said when asked how often it was for him to watch feature films in public.

“Basically I spent last night and this morning getting the hang of last night's game and looking forward to today a little bit. This morning was no different.”

He said his two sons played basketball in the afternoon and the car wash was next door.

“Very efficient use of time,” he said. “I watch a lot of films, but that's not normal, no. Thank you, Baron.”

After defeating the Phoenix Suns 123-116 on Friday night, the Lakers picked up a 131-127 win over the Kings on Saturday to improve to 3-0.
