Will Ladd McConkey and DJ Chark play today? Injury updates on Chargers WRs

The Los Angeles Chargers have two key offensive linemen from Justin Herbert suffering injuries ahead of the team's Week 8 game against the New Orleans Saints.

Ladd McConkey and DJ Chark were two of Herbert's seven skill position players who struggled with injuries a short week after Monday night's loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

Ladd McConkey injury update

  • Update: McConkey will not be among the team's inactive players on Sunday.
  • McConkey was suffering from a hip injury and was “questionable” on the final injury report.
  • A Saturday night report from ESPN's Adam Schefter said: “Chargers WR Ladd McConkey, listed as questionable for Sunday's game due to a hip injury, is expected to play against the Saints, per source.”

Update on DJ Chark's injury

  • The Chargers opened the 21-day window for Chark to return from IR before Week 7. Then he appeared to be battling a new injury, different from the one that put him on IR.
  • Chark was also “questionable” on the final injury report and roster moves on Saturday seemed to indicate he won’t be activated for the second week in a row.

Compensation for Chargers

The hope has to be that McConkey doesn't struggle with an injury as obviously as he did last week when he struggled. The Chargers have already designated two wideouts from the practice squad for depth. Much of the work could again fall to tight end Will Dissly and a depth wideout like Simi Fehoko.
