A tropical threat is looming in the Caribbean

The next tropical threat to the Atlantic Basin continues to be tracked by the National Hurricane Center and has a medium chance of developing into a tropical depression by the end of the week.

The FOX Forecast Center expects that probability to increase further as the final month of the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season approaches.

A wildfire is burning more than 12,000 acres in Oklahoma's wildlife refuge

Forecaster with the National Weather Service office in NormanOklahoma, has warned of dangers Fire weather conditionsincluding the area surrounding the Rush Fire, which has burned more than 12,000 acres in the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge.

The entire area, about an hour and a half south of Oklahoma City, was closed to the public Saturday to give firefighters and other first responders time to work to contain and extinguish the fire.

A man and his two children were rescued from the Pacific Ocean in 2019 Hawaii over the weekend. The rescue took place on Saturday after the man made an emergency call saying his boat had capsized.

The Honolulu sector of the US Coast Guard (USCG) heard the call and dispatched helicopter and aircraft crews to search the area. Almost five hours later, the helicopter crew found the overturned boat with the man and his two sons clinging to the hull. They were not wearing life jackets, the Coast Guard said.
