A closer look at the Celtics' rigged 2024 championship rings originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston

One of the best teams in franchise history, the Boston Celtics, deserves special recognition. And the 2023-24 C's certainly did this Tuesday night.

The Celtics received their 2024 championship rings and raised Banner 18 to the TD Garden Rafters in a special ceremony before their 2024-25 season opener against the New York Knicks. Several Boston players had visceral reactions while we received their rings, and now we know why: These rings are among the most elaborate (and high-tech) in NBA history.

For starters, each ring consists of 15 carats (one for each Eastern Conference team), 18 emerald-cut diamonds (one for each Boston championship), and 80 white diamonds marked “Champions” (one for each combined win in the Celtics' regular-season game). ). season and playoffs).

The 2023-24 team's mantra, “Whatever It Takes,” is also featured on the side panels, which are engraved in a parquet floor pattern. The inside of each ring shows the result of each of the Celtics' playoff series against Miami (4-1), Cleveland (4-1), Indiana (4-0) and Dallas (4-1).

And on top of that, it opens.

Jason Arashaben, the CEO of the jeweler who designed the ring – Jason of Beverly Hills – joined NBC Sports Boston's Kayla Burton Celtics half time live to allow a close look at the unique ring.

“This particular ring here is opening,” Arashaben said to Burton. “And what makes it so unique is that on the inside there is an actual piece of parquet flooring that we cut out and sanded and has the final result and the date of the decisive final victory on it.”

“Here on the inside is the actual banner and the parquet floor pattern with all the jersey numbers of every active player on the playoff roster.”

Arashaben then explained that this Celtics championship ring is the first of its kind.

“If you take your phone to this particular ring, it is the first ring in the history of the championship ring to have the NFC chip installed,” Arashaben said. “If you take your phone and tap it on the green parquet floor, a video will appear showing how that particular ring was made.”

We expect nothing less from the 2024 champions, who after winning Banner 18 now have the most titles in NBA history (passing the Los Angeles Lakers). Watch Burton's full interview with Arashaben in the video player above.
