A major recall of frozen waffles is underway due to possible Listeria contamination

Bad news for breakfast lovers: A number of frozen waffles have been recalled – and your favorite waffle could very well be among them.

On October 18, the FDA announced that manufacturer TreeHouse Foods was voluntarily recalling a number of frozen waffle products due to possible contamination with the bacteria Listeria monocytogenes. In total, hundreds of products were affected, including seasonal pumpkin-flavored favorites, protein-packed options, and homemade originals, including chocolate chip, multigrain, and blueberry varieties (among others).

According to the FDA, no reports of illness related to the frozen waffles have been confirmed. However, if you have products in your freezer, you should throw them away or return them to the point of purchase for in-store credit, the organization said, adding that those with concerns should contact a healthcare provider.
