After a historic season, the Switchbacks are aiming for strong postseason success

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – A historic regular season for the Colorado Springs Switchbacks, who finished in second place and also had a possible two home playoff games. But to get there they had to pick up two tough away wins, and in Sacramento they pulled off an 85th-minute victory.

“I was dealing with some pain, so it was important to score this goal and help the team and see everyone happy,” said Juan David Tejada, who scored the game-winning goal against Sacramento Republic.

“The only other time I can compare it to anything at this club was when we made it to the Western Conference finals a few years ago. I just felt like it went that way, we said we had to push because we were in 5th place and then a minute later Juan scores and we're in 2nd place and have to fight for ours Defending lives,” said Captain Matt Mahoney.

All the work after the rough start now leads to a home playoff game against an Oakland Roots team in Colorado Springs that has already been beaten twice this season, but they know Saturday will be a tough matchup.

“We did well against them at the start of the season. So of course we don't take them lightly. We have to respect everyone. “This is the postseason, anyone can beat anyone, as we’ve seen,” Mahoney said.

This is the 10th season of this franchise and the highest finish they have ever achieved is this year and number 2. Now the franchise has never made it to the championship, they want to change that this year
