Alvin Kamara says Saints fans leaving the dome early is “unacceptable.”

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara said Thursday night's loss to the Denver Broncos for the fifth straight time was as disappointing a performance as he has had in his entire football career.

Kamara said in a postgame press call (H/T NewOrleans.football) that he found two fundamental things “unacceptable” as a result of Thursday night's loss.

“There are some unacceptable things going on. Firstly, our game is unacceptable. And secondly, the dome is empty or empty. I think I saw some fans leaving in the second quarter, that’s unacceptable.”

He later said, “I've been here eight years and I've never seen the dome so empty.”

Kamara admitted that fans leaving is completely within the team's control and is an appropriate response to the way the team is playing. He also compared his experiences in New Orleans over the past seven years and said he had never seen anything like it from the Superdome.

“If I were a fan, I would go too. To be honest. It’s just that people are fed up.”

“We are shooting ourselves in the foot. I don't think we play with a lot of details. I don't think we play with a lot of energy… Monday night, Sunday night, Thursday night, football, y'all.” I have to come out with energy… A team that comes out and just gets itself to a point where it's like, “It It's Thursday, we know it's a short week, we just have to go play.” The team that can do that? I mean, this is the team that's going to win. And I don't think we made it today.

“I think we came out flat. I think we just got out, it was a Thursday and we had a game. That wasn’t it.” Thursday Night Football.”

New Orleans lost 33-10 and had only four drives that lasted longer than six plays. Kamara rushed for 10 yards. Before the season, Kamara put a home in the New Orleans area up for sale, sparking trade speculation.

Although Kamara has been a very realistic sellout candidate in recent seasons, as he played productively while the Saints faltered, and Kamara has rarely had a problem being open with the press about how he feels about underperformance, he mostly stayed committed and active in the team and vice versa. However, he missed minicamp this summer due to a contract dispute.
