Ambulance crashes while transporting patient on I-25

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) — Icy winter conditions caused an ambulance to slide off the road near the Garden of the Gods exit on I-25 this morning while transporting a patient.

According to Colorado Springs police, the ambulance left the roadway near I-25 before coming to a stop on Sinton Road. It happened between 2 and 3 a.m. on November 7th.

Colorado Springs police told KRDO13 that there was a patient in the ambulance at the time of the accident. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured and only minor injuries were sustained.

Our emergency responders became aware of the crash after observing a heavy police presence in the area early this morning.

The roads have now been cleared and the accident did not cause any significant closures or delays.

The accident occurred amid wintry weather conditions in the area. Colorado Springs Police were on accident alert this morning due to slippery road conditions.
