Andrew Garfield says the We Live in Time sex scene made the cameraman blush

The chemistry between Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh was perhaps a little too obvious.

As the Golden Globe winner discussed his new film We live in time He recalled filming a “very intimate, passionate sex scene” with Pugh on a closed set at 92NY on Friday, prompting cinematographer Stuart Bentley to turn away.

“The scene becomes more passionate as we choreograph it,” he said in an excerpt from the performance. “And we kind of get into it and go a little further than we should because we haven't heard 'cut' and it feels safe.” And we just say, “Okay, we'll just move on to the next step, we'll let it move on and just keep going.”

Garfield continued, “And at a certain point we both telepathically say to each other, 'This definitely feels like a longer take.' … I look up and in the corner are Stuart and our boom operator. Stuart has the camera at his side and has turned into the wall.”

During the film's world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival last month, Pugh praised director John Crawley for creating a safe space to immerse himself in Nick Payne's emotional script. “I couldn’t have done any of this without security. None of us would be here without John’s space that he made available to us,” she said.
