The truncated storm system will move into central New Mexico Thursday evening and become an Albuquerque low early Friday morning. This will result in large amounts of snow falling over the Sangre De Cristo Mountains and southeastern Colorado. Some areas will see an additional 1 to 3 feet of snow.

As Friday morning progresses, the center of the storm will move into northern Texas and Oklahoma. This will bring snow throughout the Denver metro area and southern parts of the state.

The morning drive will see snow early, causing light showers with dense fog. As the morning commute progresses, the snow will become heavier starting at 8 a.m. as the day progresses.

A winter storm warning is in effect for the Denver metropolitan area, the Front Range foothills and most of the Eastern Plains. This includes Interstate 70 and Interstate 25, which are expected to be closed until Saturday morning. Areas in and around the Denver metro area and surrounding suburbs could see 7 to 14 inches of snow, with 12 to 19 inches from Limon to the Kansas state line. This will halt travel through the Eastern Plains and southeastern areas of Colorado.
