Arteta praises 'incredible' Gunners – Arseblog News

Mikel Arteta said Arsenal put in an “incredible” performance as they beat Leicester 4-2 thanks to two stoppage-time goals.

The Gunners appeared to be on their way to three points when Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard scored in the first half, but the tide turned after the break when James Justin scored twice in 16 minutes, first with a header and then with a great volley.

Despite the setback, Arsenal continued their attack with a fluidity not seen in recent games and were ultimately rewarded with death. Bukayo Saka's corner was directed back towards goal by Leandro Trossard before Wilfred Ndidi scored his own goal. While the Emirates breathed a sigh of relief, Kai Havertz added the fourth goal after a lengthy VAR review.

“I’m very happy, especially with the performance,” Arteta told BBC Match of the Day.

“I think we were incredible today. We deserved the win with many more goals. We started the second half the way we did, conceding the first goal made things more difficult, and with the equalizer the team showed incredible character, continued to push and created one chance after another.

“We suffered more than we should have, but that’s football. Really happy with the team.”

When asked if he had scored another goal so late, he continued: “Now we are really happy, but because of the two goals we conceded we could have been in a completely different situation, but with the certainty that we were happy with the performance If we are satisfied, we must be very satisfied.”

“There is always the possibility (of losing points), this is the Premier League, every team has incredible resources to create problems and today they scored two goals from very little, but that is the quality they have. “

After Manchester City dropped points at Newcastle, the Gunners are now level on points with Pep Guardiola's side.
