Barcelona's perfect start to the La Liga season came to an end with a 2-4 defeat at Osasuna.

Hansi Flick had won all of his first seven league games as Barcelona head coach – alongside a 2-1 defeat at Monaco in the Champions League – but his strong team suffered a heavy defeat in Pamplona.

First-half goals from Ante Budimir and Bryan Zaragoza put Osasuna in control and while Pau Victor equalized eight minutes after the break, a penalty from Budimir and a long-range shot from Abel Bretones took the game away from the visitors.

Substitute Lamine Yamal – one of many regulars who was rested from the start of this encounter – scored a consolation goal two minutes from time, but it was not enough for the Spanish league leaders, who suffered their first home defeat of the season.

Yamal and Raphinha both came on as second-half substitutes for Flick's side, which was missing a number of injured players including Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, Ronald Araujo, Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, Dani Olmo and Marc Bernal.

Barcelona next play at home against Swiss club Young Boys in the Champions League on October 1, before returning to La Liga with a game against Alaves five days later.

Second-placed Real Madrid (17 points) face Atletico Madrid (third, 15 points) on Sunday, with both teams looking to reduce the gap at the top of La Liga to Barcelona (21 points).
