Barcola leads PSG to victory against Rennes

Bradley Barcola scored twice as Paris Saint-Germain beat Rennes 3-1 on Friday to remain unbeaten and three points clear at the top of Ligue 1.

Barcola scored a fine finish after half an hour and Lee Kang-in doubled the lead in the 58th minute with a diving header after the French striker's powerful shot hit the post.

Achraf Hakimi then set up Barcola for an easy effort, overtaking Marseille striker Mason Greenwood as the league's top scorer this season with six goals.

Former PSG youth player Arnaud Kalimuendo reduced the deficit with a penalty 15 minutes from time after a handball from Lucas Beraldo. A late goal from Alidu Seidu for Rennes was ruled out for the same reason.

“I am very satisfied and very happy with the game. We were clearly superior, we scored three goals and could have scored more,” said PSG coach Luis Enrique, but complained that his team “lost control” towards the end.

The leaders could be overtaken again this weekend by Monaco and Marseille. Monaco plays Montpellier on Saturday before Marseille visits Strasbourg on Sunday.

PSG are back in action at Arsenal in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Brest suffered its fourth defeat in six games after losing 3-0 at newly promoted Auxerre ahead of a trip to Salzburg in the Champions League next week.
