Barstool's David Portnoy defends himself against Taylor Swift with “Concert Note”.

David Portnoy has dismissed Swifties' claim that he is a fake fan of the pop superstar by revealing he received a handwritten letter from Taylor Swift.

The founder of Barstool Sports is a long-time fan of the singer. Portnoy took part in the Epoch tour at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey and gushed about his experience on his best friend's podcast in June 2023. He has also publicly defended Swift in her celebrity feuds with Scooter Braun, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.

On Sunday, Portnoy spoke about his experience attending his second Swift concert on Saturday night after attending the second night Epoch tour in Miami. He uploaded a video to Instagram and said the concert was “spectacular,” but the evening was marred by a video a woman posted about him online.

Newsweek emailed reps for Swift and Portnoy outside of normal business hours on Monday.

“It was a fantastic evening and I should be on cloud nine, but this girl has kind of gone viral lately and slandered me: 'Swifties should hate this guy, and more importantly, Taylor's camp hates Dave, they never have.' spoke to him (or contacted him).' '” Portnoy said in the clip.

“They said I'd never been to a concert before, that's not true, this is my second one Epoch tour. But it should have been a night of celebration, like that girl who kind of ruined my parade and said, 'They don't like you,' this that.”

He then included a video of the clip he was referring to, in which a woman claimed Swift's team had never contacted Portnoy, Barstool Sports or anything with the businessman and claimed he was a “high-performing Swiftie.”

“I got the VIP section, which was great. “You know, I wanted to come over and talk about this letter that Austin Swift, her brother – the 13-year-old there, I obviously opened it – handed to me personally in the VIP area from Taylor,” Portnoy continued.

“But this girl says, 'Oh, Taylor hates him, they don't want him there, they don't like him.' This letter from Taylor himself, personally handed to me in the VIP area.

Portnoy then held up the envelope containing the note, which had been sealed with green wax featuring the 14-time Grammy winner's lucky number 13. He then showed that it said the note “came from Taylor Swift's desk” before reading it out.

“'Dave, I'm so happy to have you on the show tonight! I wanted to thank you for always being so supportive, so loyal, and for having my back when many others didn't. I hope you did “Great fun tonight!! Love, Taylor,” Portnoy said as he read what the star wrote.

“That should have been the highlight, right?” he continued. “Taylor wrote me this hand-delivered note, or maybe when her mom Andrea came over and Austin said, 'Hey, my mom wants to meet you.' And we had a real hug, almost in tears.

Portnoy said Swift's mother told him the family was grateful for the support he had shown Swift over the years. He also said that Tree Paine, Swift's publicist, was “great.” However, he couldn't stop thinking about the video the woman made about him and criticized her for thinking “she's a gatekeeper to the Swifties.” He even said he could ask Paine to ban the woman from future Swift concerts if he wanted – but he wanted things to stay “positive.”

He concluded: “I think Taylor wants me to go the right way, so I will, but this girl who made fun of how performative I am and that Taylor Swift's camp has nothing to do with me want to do, let's practice love, let's practice love.” .

“Yes I had the time of my life, yes I can't believe I'm in Austin, yes I haven't met Taylor but I don't think she meets people when she performs. That means more to understand that.” Taking time to write a handwritten letter… so yeah, I'd say it's one of the best evenings I've had in a long time.

Portnoy has been showing his support for Swift for years, and after the singer endorsed Democratic candidate Kamala Harris for President of the United States via Instagram on September 10, the Barstool Sports X (formerly Twitter) founder took to fans to express his support Sharing an opinion The singer's opinion does not change regardless of who she votes for.

“When the King of Swifties asks me what I think about her support of Kamala. ” he posted.

Portnoy also confirmed that he was voting for Republican candidate Donald Trump, writing, “I'm voting the other way around, but the right thing for everyone.”
