Beanie Bishop gets the first two interceptions of his career in the Steelers' win over the Jets

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Steelers cornerback Beanie Bishop played a big role in that Sunday night's 37-15 victory over the New York Jets at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh.

Bishop was a nuisance in the secondary and made life difficult for Aaron Rodgers and the Jets. He finished the game with six tackles, one tackle for loss, two passes defended and two interceptions.

The second interception was almost returned for a touchdown.

Bishop's teammates say he went out and made the plays he needed to make. The Steelers' offense came to life after Bishop's first interception and scored 31 unanswered points in the game.

“They did this play, the play that I chose, they did this play when they were in Green Bay,” Bishop said. “So you know obviously taking Davante Adams, you know, that's what we had in mind, just being there and making plays.”

“It's crazy because the plays that he made, on those two plays, he actually made in practice,” Steelers linebacker Patrick Queen said. “That was the greatest thing. Just telling him he made those plays because he made them in practice. I couldn’t be prouder of him.”

Queen added that Bishop's play at the nickel position carries a lot of weight and is the most difficult position on the field.

“He’s doing his job, definitely his job,” said fellow cornerback Joey Porter, Jr. “He’s just really learning. He wants to learn and that's all you can really ask of a rookie. I was in the same situation last year.” “

Porter Jr. said Bishop was “crazy” and added that his two interceptions against Aaron Rodgers weren't something a lot of people could say.

The Steelers now shift their focus to the other New York team as the Giants are next in town with another primetime game scheduled next week.

Kick-off is scheduled for next Monday at 8:15 p.m. at Acrisure Stadium.
