BREAKING: Ferndale High School has been evacuated for safety reasons

FERNDALE, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Students and staff have been evacuated from Ferndale High School for safety reasons.

The school notified parents of the safety issue at approximately 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, October 3rd.

As of 1:54 p.m., all high school students will be sent home after spending nearly two hours in the stands at the football stadium.

As of 1:33 p.m., Vista Middle School and Horizon Middle School have canceled all extracurricular activities for the day.

As of 1:20 p.m., Ferndale High School announced that students will be given a specific order to get to school. Students walking to campus will be released first, followed by students driving themselves with their siblings, and any remaining students will be taken to another location for pickup.

Ferndale High School Principal Ravinder Dhillon told students around 1 p.m. that they would remain where they are until at least 2 p.m

Ferndale Police are securing the campus and facilitating evacuation. They are asking people to stay away from campus so law enforcement can properly investigate.
