CeeDee Lamb's taunting penalty infuriates JJ Watt

CeeDee Lamb's taunting penalty infuriates JJ Watt

JJ Watt disagreed with a taunting call after CeeDee Lamb's 55-yard touchdown on “Thursday Night Football.”

The recently retired defensive end was watching the Dallas Cowboys' 20-15 victory over the Giants when Lamb caught a touchdown and turned to look in the direction of Giants corner Deonte Banks as he entered the end zone.

Lamb then lightly threw the ball in Banks' direction, earning him a taunting penalty after the game was scored.

Watt, now an analyst at CBS, was unhappy — and not with Lamb.

“These taunts are getting out of control,” the Texan posted on X. “Are you telling me that was worth a punishment?!”

Three years ago, the league released a memo highlighting so-called “disrespect” and attempting to enforce penalties for taunts, even if they appear on the surface to be harmless.

Lamb had a strong performance, recording season highs in receptions with seven and receiving yards with 98, along with the touchdown that stood despite the penalty.

He also carried the ball three times for an additional eight yards, marking his first game of 2024 with 100 all-purpose yards.

With the road win, the Cowboys erased a two-game deficit and improved to 2-2 on the season while pushing the Giants to 1-3.

The Cowboys have a matchup with the Steelers next week on Monday night. While the Giants will visit the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, October 6th.

The Seahawks will have a shorter rest period after visiting the Lions in Detroit for a Monday Night Football event this week.
