Chelsea – FC Noah 8-0: “You shouldn’t be there” – Blues sail in the Conference League

Chelsea – FC Noah 8-0: “You shouldn’t be there” – Blues sail in the Conference League

Chelsea achieved the Conference League record, but fell well short of their own club record in Europe, a 13-0 Cup Winners' Cup victory over Luxembourg club Jeunesse Hautcharage in 1971.

This 8-0 is their joint second-highest win alongside three other games.

With Chelsea leading Noah 6-0 at half-time and the Armenians looking like they could concede a goal on every attack, the only surprise was that they only scored twice more.

Maresca was then asked if he was disappointed not to have broken her record.

“You have to be serious,” he said. “It's never easy. The most important thing is that we are serious and professional. We had to show that.”

Noah’s Portuguese coach Rui Mota said: “The 8-0 is hard to take. We know Chelsea are on a different level as a team, but we still wanted to do better.”

“If we hadn't conceded so early in the game or maybe after two minutes when we had a very good chance, if we had scored a goal, everything would be different.”

“Congratulations to Chelsea, they were very strong.”

Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo, who opened the scoring with his first goal for the club, said: “We are in contention to win.”

“In every competition we take part in, we strive for the best and we definitely want to win this competition.”
