Chiefs-Raiders: The Chiefs take a 7-0 lead after the first drive

The Kansas City Chiefs took their 6-0 record (and a 12-game winning streak dating back to last season) to Allegiant Stadium, where they will face the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 8. The last time these teams met – last Christmas at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium – the Raiders defeated the Chiefs 20-14 due to strong defensive results in back-to-back Kansas City games.

First quarter

The Raiders won the first coin toss and postponed the decision of possession until the second half. With that, the Chiefs began their offense, starting at the 30-yard line after a touchback.

The Chiefs offense immediately ran into third base on the first drive, but newly acquired wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins made his first big play with the team to move the chains. The 13-yard completion was followed by a big gain for tight end Travis Kelce. When Kansas City faced another third down, running back Samaje Perine converted with a short 21-yard pass to the Raiders' three-yard line.

After a stuffed handoff, running back Kareem Hunt hit another at second and goal, giving the Chiefs an initial 7-0 lead after the first drive.
