College football live scores, games, updates: Clemson at Florida State, Tennessee-Arkansas and more

With only one matchup between the top 25 teams on the schedule, this week looked like it might be a dud. But college football always delivers when you least expect it, and that was especially the case on Saturday.

A week after beating Georgia in a clash of SEC titans, No. 1 Alabama lost 40-35 to Vanderbilt in Nashville. The Commodores were 23.5 point underdogs, but never trailed in the surprising win. Vandy QB Diego Pavia was the hero, completing 16 of his 20 passes for 252 yards and two touchdowns while also adding 57 yards rushing.

Elsewhere, No. 5 Georgia bounced back from its loss to Alabama by beating Auburn, and No. 2 Ohio State looked convincing in a win over Iowa, with freshman Jeremiah Smith making another one-handed touchdown grab. No. 25 Texas A&M throttled No. 9 Missouri 41-10 earlier in the day in the only ranked-versus-ranked matchup.

Here are the games we'll be keeping a close eye on Saturday night. All times are Eastern and all odds are from BetMGM.

7:30 p.m. | TV: ABC | Line: Tennessee -13.5 | Total 58.5

Tennessee's offense has produced highlights so far, but the defense has given up just 28 points in four games and the defensive line has proven to be one of the best in the SEC. It will be a big challenge for Arkansas' offense, which can be explosive when it doesn't turn the ball over.

10:30 p.m. | TV: ESPN | Line: Miami -10.5 | Overall: 54.5

Miami is learning what life is like in the new ACC as it heads west to visit the Bears for a late-night opener in Berkeley, which also hosts “GameDay.” Can Miami and Heisman quarterback hopeful Cam Ward hold on against a spirited Cal team that's off to a 3-1 start?
